I’m sure anyone with heart, passion and desire has a wonderful dream they strive to attain. No matter how impossible it seems…we work, slave and dive into an abyss of stress, looking out at the beacon of light giving us hope. Whether it’s a dream car, dream job, career, house or all of the above, we dream the wonderful dream to achieve the finer things in life.
This leads me to the following, the Wabi House. Discovered at the MCASD Mix, the love bugs fell in love with it immediately. Yes it isn’t the biggest house ever built. Nor is it the most luxurious residence I have ever set my eyes on, it is still what I would consider a dream house. The simplistic lines and minimalistic aura it conveys is the epitome of where I see myself eventually living. Therefore, I would like to share it with you. I’m sure even though this may not be your dream house, it is still a work of art to be appreciated.
One of the unseen gems in San Diego County. This custom made home isn’t found in a remote part of the county where you’d might expect. It’s built snap dab in the middle of a residential area in Carlsbad! According to MCASD, “the Wabi House pushed the limits of modern design in a residential area.” Designed by Sebastian Marsical Studios the home is described as “a modern and introspective take on an old tradition.” The house is clean and straight forward, taking inspiration from Japanese architecture (hence the name Wabi).
According to Pursuing Wabi, “Wabi is a Japanese word that conveys a simple way of life free of ornateness..” With its clean lines and inherit Japanese influences, this house is certainly the embodiment of it all.
Driving past this home, you might not even notice it’s there. It’s uniquely hidden curbside by unflattering landscaping and a simple black wall. However, venture past that wall and you’ll find yourself in a state of Zen and awe…..
